Hey guys, hope your Halloweens were awesome. Mine was pretty good, I finished making the costume about two days beforehand, and it turned out great. I didn't go see 13th Gate as planned, mostly because it didn't seem right to go without Spock, but luckily I hadn't bought a ticket yet so I didn't lose any money by not going. There are special tours during select dates in November (including Friday 13th), where all lights in the house go out and you get to go through the house armed only with a small pocket flashlight. I may just do that, depending on the money.

Even though I didn't go, the rest of the evening was still good. I went Trick-or-Treating with a couple guys on my street (and pilfered some of their candy >3) and was able to find two of my dogs near the cemetery. I ate the candy there, on the steps of this huge (and old) mausoleum. Wandered around town, and drifted in and out of some street partying and clubs before coming back to crash at around 4:30. Fun times.

STEAMPUNK UPDATE: It took me longer than I thought it would to cut out, drill, and clean all of the brass parts I need for the keyboard, and the work on the costume put me behind, so I've actually only just finished that. But they look good, even though there were a few near misses with the saw. The guy's not kidding when he says to be careful, the thing very nearly bound back at me, which would have been bad. But they're done, and they look so shiny. xD;
Happy World Food Day! I just spent all day cooking up a storm. I'm not even into cooking that much, but today I went at it. The house smelled so good by the end of the day. I think that's why I like cooking. My place is definitely what you'd care 'worn down' and 'threadbare'. It pushes the limits of comfortable clutter, except where my work areas are concerned, the floorboards/doors creak unless I drown them in oil, and as I mentioned, I have a roach problem. Cooking brings a comfortable feel back to the place. It and all of my gadgets laying around are what make this place home.

Of course, World Food Day's really about bringing attention to the hunger problems in the world. I don't necessarily care about that, but I did my part with my dogs. They know to come by when the spicy smells float out the window, and I had my dinner out on the porch with them. They're such good dogs, I really wish I could keep them all. Or hell even one. As it is, though, I barely make due with me.

Balor and Osiris (a Rottweiler and Beagle, respectively) love my gumbo. They got into some sort of eating contest over it, and surprisingly Osiris won. Little guy can really eat.

If you're interested, Soda, I've got about 7 or 8 dogs who come by every once in a while. All different breeds, and only two are girls. You'd think they'd kill each other, since I've got rottweilers and pitbulls and boxers and even a Chow Chow (her name's Eris, and DAMN can she hold her own with the big boys), but they all get along pretty well. It's so great.

Update on the Steampunk Keyboard. I finally got my hands on an IBM Model M "Clicky" keyboard, and finished removing the skirts on the key caps and reassembling them last night. Tomorrow I get to work cutting and shaping the brass cradle.
Alright boys and girls, Ghoul's going for it. The buzz saw wrist band, the teapot-turned-spider, blueprints for making a working model of this (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4OYGjUrdllo/SXcikt8OaKI/AAAAAAAAPkg/21agAAkZlq4/s400/steampunk_concept_04-620x409.jpg). No. THIS TIME, I have found a new project to satisfy both of my loves, and I am doing it.

Zombies and ghosts, fresh from the steampunk workshop, I give you:

A fully functioning steampunk keyboard and LCD monitor!

Technology and gadgetry are so intricately linked, after all, this is just perfect. Believe it or not this guy (this genius) has actually made a full functioning PC like this, but I'm nowhere near that good. This'll be a big enough project. One day, though. One day...

Oh yes! And I think I've found a good Halloween costume to make this year.

It's a mix of graves, death, power, sorcery...and it's a ZOMBIE. Perfect, prefect, perfect, ooooh I'm so excited.
